Anadama Bread

Combine water, cornmeal, salt, butter, and molasses in sauce pan. Stir with whisk and cook until thick and bubbly.

Remove from heat and cool

Dissolve yeast in likewarm water. Blend into cornmeal mixture

Add 2 cups of flour. Stir in 3 more cups, one cup at a time. Remove from dough bowl and knead on floured surface until elastic. Let rise in greased bowl 1 1/2 hours or until doubled.

Punch down then shape into ball and place in 10 cup baking dish. Let double. Grease top and sprinkle with cornmeal.

Bake at 375 F for 50 minutes.
